Awesome, that’s a great start!

Here’s the thing…there’s really no way to remove subjectivity with discretionary trading. In fact, that’s your advantage over the robots.

It’s like a world-class goal scorer in soccer, they have a feel for exactly when to take the shot. Most players (myself included), get blocked a lot because they rush the shot or they take too long. But elite players know how to find the balance. It’s a little bit of talent and a lot of practice.

Same thing with trading…

I primarily look for a stair-stepping trend that respects the previous swing. But you may choose to use a moving average or just a gut feel.

The key is to practice a lot in backtesting/demo, so you develop your own feel for the pattern.

Hey man!

Very nice idea of a system! I am backtesting systems for 2 months now and could not find anything above the 50-60% strike rate. Until this one. I backtested only the EURUSD for now with 1:1 RR. Turns out it had a 67% strike rate (just tested 2008 to 2018). But only had 13 trades with the trend. This sure is to less to rely on and i am going back to 2000 next.

But i had a question for you. What are the exact rules you have with identifying a trend.
Mine are that i only consider retracements on a bearish trend if we have a Higher high higher close and atleast 2 bullish candles.

I am curious what you use to identify retracements/trends consistently without subjectivity

In reply to Greg. Hi Greg, Good question. % risk should be a standard option in FT huh? I use a spreadsheet like this to calculate % risk on each trade. When you export to TradingStats, it automatically does the calculations for you. Hope that helps.

Im new to forex tester, is there a way you could write up exactly how you do your back tests with it?
Is there a way to automate the backtest or is it just speeding up the charts and you manually go through and mark where you would enter and exit the market and calculate the profit/loss?

How do you use a % per trade on Forex Tester (it can only be fixed lots) and export to trading stats as % ???
