Good question. The way that I would approach it is on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Maybe screenshot the trades from the previous period from your statement to your journal, then write about why you took those new trades, or closed out existing trades. You would also journal the net long and short positions. That would give you a total position size and average price for both sides of the book.

It is tricky, but with some practice, it shouldn’t be that hard. You can also backtest this strategy.
