This is for informational purposes only and the results below will not guarantee successful trading.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/how-to-backtest-a-trading-strategy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">backtest<\/a> new markets, I'll add the results to this page.<\/p>\n<p>Bookmark this page and check back periodically if you want to get future updates.<\/p>\n<h2>The 50-200 Crossover Strategy Trading Plan<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1025653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ma-crossover-chart.jpg\" alt=\"Moving Average crossover on chart\" width=\"1200\" height=\"662\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ma-crossover-chart.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ma-crossover-chart-768x424.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here are the rules for this plan:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Buy\n<ul>\n<li>Buy when the 50 SMA crosses above the 200 SMA<\/li>\n<li>Stop Loss at last swing low<\/li>\n<li>Risk 1% per trade<\/li>\n<li>Take profit a 1R (1 times risk)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Sell\n<ul>\n<li>Buy when the 50 SMA crosses below the 200 SMA<\/li>\n<li>Stop Loss at last swing high<\/li>\n<li>Risk 1% per trade<\/li>\n<li>Take profit a 1R (1 times risk)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Be sure to read the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/no-code-automated-50-200-ma-crossover\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">full 50-200 Moving Average Crossover automated strategy tutorial<\/a> to learn how I did these backtests in just a few minutes, without coding.<\/p>\n<h2>Backtests<\/h2>\n<h3>EURUSD<\/h3>\n<h4>Weekly Chart<\/h4>\n<p>On this timeframe, there isn't enough data to pursue this strategy.<\/p>\n<p>With only 10 trades, you simply won't get enough trades to make this viable.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1025720\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-W-50-200-Crossover.jpg\" alt=\"EURUSD W 50-200 Crossover\" width=\"1200\" height=\"679\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-W-50-200-Crossover.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-W-50-200-Crossover-768x435.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Daily Chart<\/h4>\n<p>This actually looks pretty good.<\/p>\n<p>True&#8230;the return is very low, but the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/maxdrawdown\" title=\"How to Calculate Maximum Drawdown in Excel - Trading Heroes\" class=\"pretty-link-keyword\"rel=\"\" target=\"_blank\">max drawdown<\/a> is also low and the strategy stayed profitable throughout the entire test.<\/p>\n<p>So this could be a good strategy to optimize, or trade in multiple markets, assuming that the results are favorable in those markets too.<\/p>\n<p>No guarantees obviously, further testing would have to be done.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1025721\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-D-chart-50-200.jpg\" alt=\"EURUSD D chart 50-200\" width=\"1200\" height=\"680\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-D-chart-50-200.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-D-chart-50-200-768x435.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>4-Hour Chart<\/h4>\n<p>This strategy was profitable for most of the testing period, so this could be a good timeframe to start experimenting with.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, the return was breakeven.<\/p>\n<p>But the graph is more promising than most of the others on this list.<\/p>\n<p>It executed 209 trades, which is decent.<\/p>\n<p>If this works in other markets, then the combined return could produce a significant return.<\/p>\n<p>Again, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/how-to-backtest-a-trading-strategy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">backtest this for yourself<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is only meant to be a starting point.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1025719\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-4-hour.jpg\" alt=\"EURUSD 4-hour results\" width=\"1200\" height=\"677\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-4-hour.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-4-hour-768x433.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>1-Hour Chart<\/h4>\n<p>The return on this strategy was breakeven, so there is potential to possibly optimize this timeframe.<\/p>\n<p>On the upside, the strategy did execute quite a few trades.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1025718 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-1H.jpg\" alt=\"EURUSD 1-hour 50-200 moving average crossover results\" width=\"1200\" height=\"680\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-1H.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-1H-768x435.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>30-Minute Chart<\/h4>\n<p>The results on this timeframe are not worth examining further, at least with this version of the strategy.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1025716\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-30m.jpg\" alt=\"EURUSD 30m\" width=\"1200\" height=\"676\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-30m.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-30m-768x433.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>5-Minute Chart<\/h4>\n<p>The results are terrible on the 5-minute chart, so no further analysis is necessary.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1025714\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-5min.jpg\" alt=\"EURUSD 5min backtesting results\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-5min.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/EURUSD-5min-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>AUDUSD<\/h3>\n<h4>Weekly Chart<\/h4>\n<p>Not enough trades here to start using this timeframe.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1025732\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/audusd-w.jpg\" alt=\"AUDUSD weekly results\" width=\"1200\" height=\"679\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/audusd-w.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/audusd-w-768x435.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Daily Chart<\/h4>\n<p>This could be tweaked because the results are breakeven. Move on.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1025736\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/audusd-m30-results.jpg\" alt=\"AUDUSD M30 chart backtesting results\" width=\"1200\" height=\"682\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/audusd-m30-results.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/audusd-m30-results-768x436.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>5-Minute Chart<\/h4>\n<p>Just like with the EURUSD, the 5-minute chart is completely useless, so this is not worth exploring.<\/p>\n<p>It pretty much blew out the account.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1025737\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/audusd-m5-results.jpg\" alt=\"audusd m5 results\" width=\"1200\" height=\"686\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/audusd-m5-results.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/audusd-m5-results-768x439.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Notes and Observations About this Strategy<\/h2>\n<p>So far, the lower timeframes are showing much worse results.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, it might be better to stick to the daily and 4-hour charts.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the stop loss on this strategy may not be ideal.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes the stop ends up being too far away and it takes awhile for price to hit the target.<\/p>\n<p>More testing and optimization would have to be done.<\/p>\n<p>Learn how to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/no-code-automated-50-200-ma-crossover\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">build and tweak this strategy<\/a> and test your own ideas and you might come out with better results than me.<\/p>\n<h2>Conclusion<\/h2>\n<p>So that's how this strategy stacks up in all of those markets.<\/p>\n<p>I'll be adding new backtests as I do them, so be sure to bookmark this page and check back periodically to see if I have any new markets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Remember that you should always backtest a strategy for yourself.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Never rely on the results of others, including me.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>To learn exactly how I created an automated program to do the backtests above, WITHOUT coding, read this tutorial.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>See backtesting real results for the first version of the 50-200 Moving Average Crossover trading strategy.
