Learn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/best-forex-backtesting-manual-software\/\">more about it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As you probably know, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/fxt2discount\">Forex Tester<\/a> is <em>awesome<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>But just like any other software, it has its shortcomings.<\/p>\n<p>One area that it does not do so well is when it comes to <strong>backtesting\u00a0reporting<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In this post, I'll show you what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/forex-tester-5-review\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"48\">Forex Tester<\/a> 2 currently has in the way of reporting, a few of the key things that you need to be able to get out of your backtesting data, then I'll show you an easier way to get this information.<\/p>\n<p>But first, let's take a look at what Forex Tester 2 currently offers, in the way of reporting&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2>Built-In Forex Tester 2 Reporting<\/h2>\n<p>Here is what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/forex-backtesting-software\/\">Forex Tester 2<\/a> currently has in the way of reporting. As you can see, it's pretty basic. But there are also a few glaring issues.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the max drawdown is zero? The restoration factor and reliability are zero? Something is fishy there.<\/p>\n<p><em>But again, no software is perfect.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Although most of the basic metrics are there, you should look at some other things&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">What Advanced\u00a0Backtesting Metrics Do I Need?\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There is some other key information that you will need to look at that might help you improve your trading method. For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Day of the week analysis<\/strong> &#8211; Are certain days that are more profitable than others? Is there a day of the week that I should avoid?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Monthly analysis<\/strong> &#8211; Are there any seasonal tendencies?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Long \/ Short analysis<\/strong> &#8211; Are either longs or shorts much more profitable?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Expected monthly return<\/strong> &#8211; Can I make a living on this when I combine my results from all currency pairs?<\/li>\n<li>And more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But that's just for starters. <strong>Obviously, there are other metrics that you may want to look at.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So how can you get this information when FT2 doesn't provide it?<\/p>\n<p>Here's one way&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2>How to Use a Spreadsheet to Get Additional Backtesting Information<\/h2>\n<p>The first thing that you will have to do is export your trading record from FT2. Do this by right-clicking in the trades\u00a0window. Click on export stats, then save the results as a text file on your desktop.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11827\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/export2.jpg\" alt=\"Export history file in Forex Tester 2\" width=\"445\" height=\"242\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then import your history file into your favorite spreadsheet program. Here's how to do it in the big ones:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.office.com\/en-us\/article\/Import-or-export-text-txt-or-csv-files-5250ac4c-663c-47ce-937b-339e391393ba\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Import text file into Excel\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/docs\/answer\/40608?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Import text file into Google Sheets<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/forum.openoffice.org\/en\/forum\/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=41045\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Import text file into Open Office<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/discussions.apple.com\/thread\/3043431?tstart=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Import text file into Numbers<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now the fun begins. <strong>The first thing that we should look at is the day of the week analysis. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So we need to find the formula that converts a date into the actual day of the week.<\/p>\n<p>In Excel, the formula is: <em>=WEEKDAY(date)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Excel will return a number for the day of the week, as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sunday = 1<\/li>\n<li>Monday = 2<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Saturday = 7<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But therein lies the problem&#8230;the <em>Date<\/em> field in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/fxt2discount\">Forex Tester 2<\/a> includes date and time. Some spreadsheet programs will convert this format into the day of the week, but others may not.<\/p>\n<p>If not, then\u00a0you will have to separate out the date from&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Oh, who the hell are we kidding?! This frickin' blows!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Let's just skip to the easy method&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>How to Get Advanced Forex Tester 2 Reports for Free<\/h2>\n<p>This video will show you how to get started right now and they type of information\u00a0that you can get from these reports. This is not actually an account, but the name of your round of backtesting.<\/p>\n<p>I recommend giving it a name like:<\/p>\n<p><strong>[system tested] [currency pair] [timeframe] [version number] [test number] <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This will allow you to easily sort your tests by name. Next choose <em>Forex Tester 2 text export<\/em> as your <em>Datasource<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Then click on the <em>Create<\/em> button to create your account.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11829\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/add-new.jpg\" alt=\"Add new account in Tradingrex\" width=\"643\" height=\"363\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From there, you can select the Forex Tester 2 file to upload by clicking on the <em>Select Files<\/em> button. The upload is really fast, but it may take a little longer if you have a lot of trades. One thing that\u00a0you should do is double check between the two reports.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Having two reporting systems can give you a good way to see if there might be computational errors in metrics that are the same between the two reports.\u00a0<\/strong>That may involve some spreadsheet computations in the beginning, but it is better to be sure than to be making decisions off incorrect data.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, since the reporting in Forex Tester 2 is very limited, you can only compare the basics.\u00a0But I encourage you to test out a few different reporting methods, to see which one works best for you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-size:0.8em\"><em>Disclaimer: Some links on this page are affiliate links.
