Loading data and setting up your first test isn't too intuitive.<\/p>\n<p>Once you figure it out however, it is really easy to do tests. Many of the Pro Traders that I have interviewed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/category\/podcast\/\">podcast<\/a> say that backtesting is one of the biggest keys to their success and that Forex Tester is one of the best programs out there.<\/p>\n<p>So take a minute to learn this process. It is one of the most highly leveraged skills that you can develop.<\/p>\n<p>This video assumes that you have already purchased and installed Forex Tester 2 on your computer.\u00a0 If you would like to get a discount on the purchase of Forex Tester 2, use this link and you can get my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/fxt2discount\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">special discount code<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The text version of this tutorial is provided after the video.<\/p>\n<h2>In this video, you will learn how to:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Set the initial deposit in your backtesting.<\/li>\n<li>Load free historical data into Forex Tester 2, in 2 minutes flat!<\/li>\n<li>Add indicators to your charts.<\/li>\n<li>Change the spread, margin, lot size and swap rate of each pair.<\/li>\n<li>Test different currency pairs at the same time.<\/li>\n<li>See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/manually-backtest-multiple-timeframes\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"202\">multiple timeframes at the same time<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>And more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aG5Uz5PtlaA?rel=0&showinfo=0\" width=\"853\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Download The Most Current Data<\/h2>\n<p>The first thing that you have to do is make sure that your initial deposit is similar to what you will actually be trading with. For example, if you plan to open an account with $5,000, then use that as your initial deposit. Testing with a $1,000,000 account can be fun, but it won't help you simulate real-life conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Start by making sure that you are in <em>History mode<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8859\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/history-mode.jpg\" alt=\"history-mode\" width=\"281\" height=\"163\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Go to <em>Tools &gt; Options<\/em> in the main menu to setup the initial deposit.\u00a0 Then change the initial deposit to your target starting account balance.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8858\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/initial-deposit.jpg\" alt=\"initial-deposit\" width=\"581\" height=\"405\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next, you have to download the latest market data. Make sure that you are still in <em>History Mode<\/em>, then select <em>Data Center<\/em> from the <em>Tools<\/em> menu.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8841\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/data-center-2.jpg\" alt=\"data-center-2\" width=\"406\" height=\"181\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then make sure that the currency pair that you want to test is highlighted. We will use the EURUSD in this example. Be sure to check the date on the right side of the green bar (<em>Imported 1 minute history<\/em>). This tells you the most recent date that you currently have data for.<\/p>\n<p>If the data is not recent, click on the <em>Update from server<\/em> button to update.\u00a0 Download the updated data for all the pairs you want to use in your testing.\u00a0 The pair that is highlighted will be the one that gets updated.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8851\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/generate-ticks.jpg\" alt=\"generate-ticks\" width=\"574\" height=\"473\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I have also changed the properties of the EURUSD for testing purposes, so I can emulate trading <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/5-reasons-to-trade-with-forex-nano-lots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nano lots<\/a>. If you want to do the same, use my settings in the <em>Symbol properties<\/em> section above. If you anticipate your spread being more than 3 pips, you need to change that too.<\/p>\n<p>When you click on the <em>Change properties<\/em> button, you will see the following screen.\u00a0 Change the settings according to what you will be using in your actual trading.<\/p>\n<p>Keep the default settings for everything else.\u00a0 Click on <em>OK<\/em> when you are done.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8860\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/properties-of-pair.jpg\" alt=\"properties-of-pair\" width=\"352\" height=\"344\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After you have updated the data, then click on the <em>Generate<\/em> button to prepare the data for testing.\u00a0 If you want to test two or more currency pairs at the same time, check those pairs here.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8853\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/generate-ticks-2.jpg\" alt=\"generate-ticks-2\" width=\"331\" height=\"447\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It will take a minute or two to generate the ticks, then you will be ready to start your test.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8854\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingheroes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ticks-progress-bar.jpg\" alt=\"ticks-progress-bar\" width=\"389\" height=\"73\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once you have generated the ticks, click on the <em>Exit<\/em> button to close the <em>Data Center<\/em> window.
